About submissions
We accept submissions from individuals who belong to the queer, trans, and/or gender variant communities.
All info about our current calls for entry, including submission guidelines, can be found on the linked page for each call.
Please only send submissions via Duosuma unless you have been specifically given instructions to do otherwise. If you have accessibility concerns, please reach out and we’ll make every effort to accommodate your submission.
For written work, we offer a handful of optional add-ons related to feedback and expedited response times. Due to the volume of submissions we receive, we are unable to provide feedback on submissions unless it has been selected and paid for at the time of submission.
We always accept reprints if you have the rights to give them, including work published on personal blogs, websites, and social media. Also, in the case of web portfolios, Patreon & similar services, and social media, we don’t require that you inform us they were previously published, since we don’t consider that “published” ourselves.
Anthology and blog submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis during open periods, with average response time between 4-6 weeks. Group photozine submissions and GARLAND submissions will be reviewed at the end of the submission period, with average response time within 4 weeks. Manuscripts will be reviewed at the end of the submission period, with average response time within 2 months.
Submissions that are not formatted correctly or contain any racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, or otherwise bigoted content will not be considered. We don’t tolerate right-wing bullshit, or anything resembling it. Writing or artwork that is based on lived experiences from a marginalized perspective is okay provided it does not glorify bigoted behavior.
We do not accept work that has been created or assisted by Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Repeated violations of submission guidelines will result in a permanent ban from submitting. Boundaries are important.
We pay contributors in the form of either profit-sharing (for published editions) or contributor stipends (for anthologies, zines, and blog pitches). Blog features offer free submissions but are unpaid. We nominate for Best of the Net, Best Small Fictions, and the Pushcart Prize!
Unless otherwise stated or invited, please submit only once per open call. All editorial decisions are final and not up for debate.
