The 2025 DRF Writers Award

  Full details   The 2025 DRF Writers Award Applications for the 2025 DRF Writers Award are now invited. £10,000 will be presented to a first-time writer whose submission demonstrates outstanding literary talent and who needs financial support to complete their work. The two runners-up will each receive £1,000.         Submissions should take the form of 15,000-20,000 words of a work in progress, fiction or non-fiction, which is not under option or contract. Applicants may not be under contract to any publisher for any work or title in any language. Applications are open to writers who have not previously published a full-length book of their own prose writing (including self-published or published on-line) excluding a collection of their own poetry.  They may have published short prose writing within a magazine/anthology. This is the second Award, established to address the few literary opportunities which help older writers break into the publishing industry. The Award was first run in 2023 and won by Glennis Virgo, selected from over 1700 entries. Glennis Virgo’s debut novel City of Silk is published in November by Allison & Busby. We publish two issues, a digital issue in fall and a physical issue in the spring.  We accept submissions on a rolling basis. 2025 FIRST GRAPHIC NOVEL AWARD
