Davinia Andrew-Lynch (Children's)

 Full details

I joined Curtis Brown in 2023 and represent children’s/YA writers and illustrators across the genres, and a growing list of commercial adult fiction. A complete 90s child with a love of film and TV, I’ve been shaped by the storytelling of the time - big, bold and pacy but with characters you can't help but love. I’m looking for stories that smack you between the eyes, capture your heart, make you laugh (no matter the story or genre) and genuinely reflect the world in which we live. Above all, I want to give writers and illustrators the space to tell the stories that they want to tell.

Prior to CB, I founded and ran boutique agency Andlyn and was formerly a film/TV agent. I also co-founded, in conjunction with Faber Children's, the FAB Prize which aims to discover unpublished children's writers and illustrators from Black and Ethnic Minority backgrounds (www.fabprize.org).

CURRENT MANUSCRIPT WISHLIST

SUMMARY:

5-7/Chapter Books; Long Running MG Series Proposals; MG Urban Fantasy; Teen; Graphic Novels; Illustrators*

MORE INFO:

Chapter Books - perfect for the 5-7 reader, who haven't necessarily graduated from picture books but are looking for their next challenge.

Favourite series in this market include: 'Press Start' by Thomas Flintham, 'Call the Puffins' by Cath Howe, 'Wigglesbottom Primary' by Pamela Butchart, 'Rabbit and Bear' by Julian Gough.  If youg

Series Fiction - I'm on the hunt for a kind of Anytown, UK based The Babysitters Club x Kelly Yang. It would need a setup and cast of characters who could have readers returning to their stories time and time again.  Ultimately I'm looking for a planned out and considered long-running series perfect for obsessive readers!

Tentatively, I'm also going to say I'm looking for a horse based series proposal. More Dreamworks' Spirit: Riding Free than Black Beauty.  And, cricket...done like a football series.

Upper Middle Grade (or for ease let's just say 10+) - I'd love to find some Urban Fantasy for this age group. Think Artemis Fowl, Amari and the Night Brothers, or Lockwood & Co. It needs to be fresh, high octane and huge (but grounded and accessible) when it comes to world building. I should be thinking 'how hasn't this been done before?'

Teen - please note here: I actively do not mean YA. Teen stories are written for 12-15 year olds, featuring issues and content which is relatable and reflective of younger teenagers actual lives. I want Teen stories within all genres. From romance to action adventure, fantasy to thriller - in fact mash-ups are even better in my book.

Illustrated Fiction / Graphic Novels - From Bunny Vs Monkey to Roller Girl, Investigators to Mega Robo Bros, Amulet to City of Dragons to Hilda - I'm looking for a range of stories.

Illustrators - send in your portfolios!
