What We Are Looking For


At Legend Press, we are looking for original stories, unique voices, and excellent writing. We want to see manuscripts that will entertain and move us, with characters that linger long after the last page.

We publish in two main areas:

​

  • Contemporary literary fiction

  • Crime fiction: psychological and political thrillers
     

We do not publish in the following areas and will not be able to respond to these submissions:

 

  • Young adult fiction, science fiction, fantasy, children’s books, horror, plays or poetry.

  • For all non-fiction submissions, please consider two other imprints within the Legend Times Group: Hero Press and University of Buckingham Press.

 

Submissions policy


Legend Press accepts submissions from literary agents as well as directly from authors. Before submitting a manuscript, please explore this website and read about the other books we’ve published recently to ensure that it fits with the style and themes of our list.

How to submit


Please email submissions@legendtimesgroup.co.uk with the following information:

​

  • Please include 'Legend Press' in the subject line of your email

  • Why you think Legend Press is the right publisher for you

  • Details of any previous publications

  • Details of any competition successes

  • At least two comparable titles i.e. books that have been published in the last five years that are similar in style, subject matter and/or readership

  • A detailed synopsis

  • The first three chapters of your manuscript (as an attachment)
     

We do not accept paper submissions and cannot return any material posted to us. Multiple submissions will not be read. We are unable to read submissions that are not submitted correctly.

Our response


While author submissions have always been a key ingredient of our press, we receive a huge number and with a small team it can take up to six months for a response. During this time, please only get in touch if you have another offer or if you have signed up with a literary agent. Owing to the volume of submissions we receive, we are not able to offer feedback on manuscripts if you are unsuccessful.
