Quarter Press

 Full details

What’ve you got to show us?
  • A Book-Length Work

We love book-length novels and collections targeted at any age bracket, so long as they contain fantastical elements. While leaning towards the darker side, we’re not against the lighter fair, either. And while we may consider High Fantasy, you’re much more likely to get an acceptance with a story grounded in reality.

  • Art

If you’re down to work with us and would be interested in illustrating a project with us, then send us a link to your Portfolio or Instagram. Our current model is to match up artists with “the right” project. This could be anything from a novel to a board game to a short zine. (And it may not be much, but we are a paying venue.)

  • Graphic Stories

Zine-length to full-on Graphic Novel, we’d love to see what you can do—as an individual or a team. We can’t pair writers with artists, unfortunately, but we’re actively looking to publish zines, standard-size comics, and graphic novels.

  • Poetry

Currently, we are NOT OPEN to Unsolicited manuscripts / poetry collections or chapbooks. We tend to reach out to folks via our Quarter(ly) journal. If interested in publishing poetry with us, consider submitting to our journal first.

How to Submit

  • Book-Length Works

Please send us your query letter in the body of an email, along with a short list of artists / styles you see fitting your work. As attachments, please include a 1 - 2 page synopsis and the first 20ish pages, or the first three chapters / stories—whichever is shorter. Email everything to chrisatquarterpress(at)gmail(dot)com.

  • Art

Please send us a link to your Portfolio, an Instagram page, or whatever exemplifies your work. Also, please let us know what types of projects you’re interested in: Books, zines, games, or …? (If you have schedule preferences, feel free to let us know, too!) Email everything to chrisatquarterpress(at)gmail(dot)com.

  • Graphic Stories

We need a strong sense of both your story and art. If the work is a single-comic length (32 pages or less), then we need to see the entire project. For longer works, please send a 1-2 page synopsis of the story, 10 - 20 completed pages, and a realistic completion date to chrisatquarterpress(at)gmail(dot)com.

Things we love.

As our publishing tastes cover a wide variety, here is a very incomplete list of authors, artists, and various media that we would die to work with / publish / have made. These are a HUGE indication of our aesthetics.

Erin Morgenstern, Susanna Clarke, Ben Templesmith, Neil Gaiman, David Almond, Take Shelter, The 39 Deaths of Adam Strand, Nova Ren Suma, Over the Garden Wall, Haruki Murakami, Donnie Darko, Daytripper, Jeff Lemire, Sean Murphey, Joe Hill, The Golem and the Djinn, Louise Erdrich, Luca, Samurai Jack, What We Do in the Shadows, Coen Brothers, Spirited Away, Brad Neely, Adventure Time, The Hawkline Monster, Michael Deforge, Allie Brosh, Kate Beaton, Graham Annable…

We love the blending of real life and the fantastic, the absurd, the magical, the heartbreaking, and the things that scare the shit out of us.

Contact us.

If you feel like you’d be a good fit for the press, we’d love the opportunity to see your work. Please follow the above guidelines, but don’t hesitate to drop us a line if you have any questions about our submission process.

Our current response times are two - four weeks. If you haven’t heard back from us after a month, feel free to check back in!
