Once again, thank you so much to all of the wonderful entrants who contributed to our 2021 short story writing contest. We were so thrilled with the quality of the stories and with how many entries we received, not to mention the collection that came of it! Check that out by clicking the image below.

Following this success, we are delighted to announce the launch of our second contest. After tallying up the votes from our social media followers, the theme for the contest will be:

First Prize: $150

Two Runners Up: $50

Top Ten Entries: Published in Blackwater Press Short Story Collection 2022

– Rules –

Entries cost $5, which you can pay using the button below. Only once this has been paid will a story be considered.

The theme of "ink" can be interpreted however you like.

All stories must be the author's own work.

All stories must be previously unpublished, in print or online.

All entries must be sent as a Word doc or PDF via email to submissions@blackwaterpress.com, and we would appreciate it if the subject line could be in the following format: 'Short Story Entry - [Author's Name]'.

Minimum word count is 1000 words; there is no maximum word count. 

Entries must be submitted before midnight of June 30, 2022. Winners shall be decided by the Blackwater editors, to be announced in August 2022.
