We’re thrilled to launch the Octo Books Writing Competition, and you're invited to enter starting May 28th! Whether you're a seasoned storyteller or writing for the very first time, this is your chance to shine, win fun prizes, and even get published!

🗓 Key Dates:

  • Submissions Open: Wednesday, May 28th, 2025
  • Deadline to Submit: Saturday, July 19th, 2025 at 8:00 PM (GMT)
  • Winners Announced: Saturday, July 26th, 2025


🧠 Theme:
This year’s theme is… Football!
Let your creativity run wild while keeping it child-friendly—no violence, swearing, or scary content.

✏️ Who Can Enter?
Everyone! Kids, teens, and adults are all welcome to join.
All genres and story types are accepted—as long as they’re suitable for young readers.

📏 Word Count:
500–900 words (short stories only)

🏆 Prizes:

  • 1st Place: Published by Octo Books, featured on our homepage and social media, custom certificate, and surprise gift!
  • 2nd & 3rd Place: Digital publication, certificate, and platform recognition.
  • Honourable Mentions: A few standout entries will also be showcased.


📬 How to Submit:

  1. Write your short story based on the theme.
  2. Submit it any time between May 28th and July 19th at 8:00 PM.
