The theme for the 2025  is  'Magi' 

We are seeking stories between 1000 and 5000 words on the subject of ‘Magi’. This could be retelling of the nativity story, an alternative telling (perhaps the Magi were all women, for instance, or maybe they didn’t give the game away to Herod), or a different interpretation of what ‘Magi’ means. It is fine to concentrate on just one wise person as this will be a collection of stories about Magi. Maybe you can even surprise us with a really quirky definition of the word.         

 

 

New writers, established writers and writers we've included in other anthologies are all equally welcome.  

 

 

Timeline

Submissions accepted 7 December 2024 until 28 February 2025

Editors' decisions By 31 March 2025 or there abouts!

Editorial 1 April until 30 June 2025

Book design and early marketing 1 July until 14 November 2025

Book release 15 November2025

Celebration event  6  December 2025  

  • Please name your file as your story antholgy  e.g.  Finding the Butterflies Good news ....?
  • Try to avoid having the word "Good News" in your title but if you must make sure there are other words.   
  • Texts should be:

Between 1,000 and 5,000 words

Previously unpublished

Double-spaced (Please do not put an extra double-space between paragraphs but do indent new paragraphs – use the Word paragraph settings to set this up)

In a regular font – e.g. Times New Roman or Arial, 12 point

  • Your name should not appear anywhere on your text. 
  • Please use the header and footer function in Word to create headers and footers. Include the title of your story and the anthology in the header and page numbers in the footer.

Please adhere to these guidelines even if they sound pernickety – it really helps us if you submit this way. Although we wouldn’t necessarily reject your story if it was fantastic and you’d done something a little out of kilter, if you’re borderline or your story is very similar to another this could be a deciding factor.

Note that by submitting your story you are agreeing that we shall publish it if accepted in an e-book and a paperback on which you will receive a 50% profit share, pro rata, going up to 75% once 200 copies have been sold in any format. Rights revert to you on publication (15 November 2025).
