The Spring Poetry Prize

Please read the conditions carefully beforehand as entries that don’t comply may be disqualified.
1. The competition closes at midnight UK time on 31 March 2024. Entries received later will be
disqualified. If entering by post, please leave enough time to ensure delivery of your entry before
the deadline. Postal entries are non-returnable.
2. Poems must be the original work of the entrant. The use of online and offline generative
software is prohibited and will result in disqualification.
3. Poems must be in English, but foreign language phrases commonly used in written English are
acceptable. For example- ‘raison d'être’, ‘quid pro quo’.
4. Your name should not be on your poem(s). The poems are judged anonymously to ensure the
impartiality of the judging process.
5. The maximum length of each poem entered is 400 words, excluding the title and any blank
lines. Please ensure that the word count is correct on your entry form.
6. Each entered poem should be typeset single-spaced in a standard size font (10-12 point) on an
A4 size document or sheet. Include the title, save as a separate files, or print on separate sheets.
Please do not include images, colours or unusual fonts.
7. Poems must not have been published in print anywhere in the world prior to 31 March 2024.
8. Poems must not have been awarded any prize anywhere in the world prior to 31 March 2024.
9. You retain all copyright, publishing rights and any other intellectual property rights to your
poem(s). By entering your poem(s) you grant to us a non-exclusive right to publish, record,
broadcast, perform and reproduce your poem(s).
10. No entrant may win more than one prize. You may submit as many poems as you like.
11. Poems cannot be amended once submitted.
12. Entries must be accompanied by a fully completed entry form. Please send your form and
poems to office@tomneill.ltd or by post to Tom Neill Ltd, 1–6 Ward Royal Parade, Windsor,
Berkshire, SL4 3HR.
13. The entry fee is £2 per poem payable in advance at www.barnardprize.uk or by cheque payable
to ‘Tom Neill Ltd.’ Poems sent without payment of the entry fee may be disqualified.
14. The Judge’s decision is final. The shortlist and winners will be announced at 11am on Sunday
26 May 2024 on our social media channels and website- www.barnardprize.uk
