The inaugural New Writers Flash Fiction Competition is now open for submissions. So if you fancy a share of the £1,000 prize fund, check out the details below, get writing and send your entry (or entries) our way. Please also ensure you familiarise yourself with the competition rules, terms and conditions.

Competition Details At A Glance:

Best Writing Contests of 2022, recommended by Reedsy
  • Deadline: 11:59 pm (UK time) on 30 November 2022
  • Entry Fee: £6 per entry
  • Charity: £1 from each entry will be donated to First Story (England’s leading creative writing charity for young people)
  • Prizes: 1st Place: £700; 2nd Place: £200; 3rd Place: £100
  • Publication: The 10 shortlisted entries will be published on the NewWriters.org.uk website
  • Word Limit: 300 words (excluding title)

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Fill in your name, your email address, pen name/alias (optional) and the title of your entry in the Entry Form below.
  2. Upload your entry by clicking ‘Choose File’, ensuring it is in one of the supported file types (Microsoft Word Document, OpenDocument Text, or PDF)
  3. Read the Competition Rules, Terms & Conditions and tick the box to confirm you have done so and that you agree to them.
  4. Click your preferred payment method (both options are administered by PayPal) and follow the instructions to pay the entry fee of £6.00.
  5. Once you have submitted your payment, your entry will be sent to the judges at NewWriters.org.uk and you will receive and confirmation email.
  6. If you wish to submit a second and/or third entry, please repeat the above steps.

  Full details  CŌNFINGŌ MAGAZINE   Twice a year we publish a collection of new short fiction, poetry and art from around the world in a beautifully produced, print-only magazine.   We welcome the submission of original, unpublished work. Stories may be in any style or genre but should not exceed 5,000 words in length. Poems (maximum of three) should be no longer than 50 lines.
