The 2022 QuietManDave Prize is open to entries.
Flash Fiction and Flash Non-Fiction Prizes.
Deadline: 5pm (UK time) on 1st July 2022

The QuietManDave Prize celebrates short-form writing and the life of someone who loved to experience new places, art and events and write about them. The Prize offers awards of £1,000* for Flash Fiction and £1,000* Flash Non-Fiction as well as runner-up prizes.

Both Prizes are open internationally to writers aged 16 or over – and we are particularly keen to encourage, discover and celebrate new writers. Sponsored entry is available for those who might not otherwise be able to participate.
 

    • 1st prize: £1,000* each for Flash Fiction (up to 500 words)  and Flash Non-Fiction (up to 500 words) 
    • Runner up prizes: 2nd £200*, 3rd £50* in each category
    • Entry fee: £5 (sponsored (£0) entry** available for those who might not otherwise be able to participate)

About QuietManDave   

Dave Murray entertained and informed many through his blog www.quietmandave.co.uk. He was a keen theatre critic, performed poetry at open mic sessions and loved flash fiction. He embraced writing relatively late in life but did so with a passion. The QuietManDave Prize, named in honour of his memory and achievements, will seek to enable and promote new writing. The QuietManDave Prize has been supported through the generosity of family and friends of Dave.  

 

 

 

Flash Fiction Prize Also called microfiction, nanofiction or short shorts, these are short stories distilled down to their essence, a whole and complete world in 500 words or even less.
Flash Non-Fiction Prize Non-fiction can take many forms, and for the purposes of this competition, we welcome everything from creative non-fiction to blog posts and theatre reviews.
Sponsored Entries As the QuietManDave Prize is designed to encourage new writing and to discover and celebrate new writers we want to ensure that everyone who wants to take part is able to do so.
Prize Judges The judges for the Flash Fiction and Flash Non-Fiction Prizes are Kate Feld and Shane Kinghorn.
