Dr Gavin Wallace Fellowship
The Dr Gavin Wallace Fellowship was established to honour a Creative Scotland colleague who committed his entire professional life to helping writers and literature organisations in Scotland. Following the sad loss of Dr Wallace in February 2013, Creative Scotland established an annual fellowship in his name to honour his memory and commemorate and continue his good work. The fund is supported by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland.
The Fellowship is intended to support mid-career and established writers, allowing a writer time to create work rather than deliver creative workshops or other project-based activities.
The Fellowship will run for one calendar year and the Fellow will receive a £20,000 stipend, in addition to a £5,000 budget for professional development. During this year, the Fellow will have the freedom to explore an element of their writing practice and to produce new work.
This year, we are asking applicants to consider how they would like to use digital in their work. Perhaps you have already been working digitally, or you would like to develop new skills. We are looking for writers to spend this funded year creating new work which has the capacity to be shared digitally in the future.
As the Host for this year’s Fellowship, Creative Scotland will provide you with a dedicated point of contact who will support you throughout the year. You will have monthly catch-ups with your contact, sharing your progress and ideas, and you will be linked into relevant networks across the Scottish literary sector as appropriate. You will also have access to expertise from our Creative Industries team, who will be able to advise on aspects of your planned digital delivery.
