Fowey Festival Short Story Competiton
2021 Competition – ‘Breaking Point’
To provide what we hope is a welcome distraction from the uncertain times we all find ourselves in, and to get your creative juices flowing, we decided to launch the 2021 Fowey Festival Adult Story Competition, earlier than usual. With Daphne du Maurier’s popular collection of short stories in mind, the title for the competition is “Breaking Point”. It is widely publicised that when Daphne was writing the collection, entitled The Breaking Point, she found solace and peace after a turbulent period.
Whatever the competition title conjures up for you, be it a humorous tale or one of a serious nature, we would love to read your story!
The entry fee is £10, which goes towards supporting the future of the Festival. The competition will open for entries on 7th December and close on 7th March 2021. Entries are to be no more than 1,500 words.
The winner will receive £100 and the runner up £75. The winning entries will be published on the Festival website. It is hoped that in 2021, as with previous years, we will be able to hold a competition awards ceremony. The awards will be presented by a guest judge, who will make the final selection from those entries shortlisted by the reading panel.
